RNA - "Both Iran and Lebanon believe in the Palestinian cause," Amir Abdollahian said in a meeting with Lebanese Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Qanso in Beirut on Tuesday.

During the meeting in the Lebanese capital today, the two sides discussed regional developments, particularly in Lebanon, Syria and Palestine.

Qanso, for his part, lauded Iran for its sincere and resolute positions on supporting the nation and resistance of Lebanon and Palestine, as well as Tehran's support for Syria in the fight against terrorism.

In relevant remarks earlier in January, Head of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi in a meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Sa'ad Hariri in Beirut underlined that Iran and Lebanon share views on the need for political solutions to the regional crises.

"Iran and Lebanon attach great importance to sustainable security in region and settling conflicts in Muslim countries," Boroujerdi said during the meeting in the Lebanese capital.

The senior Iranian lawmaker further emphasized that the two countries have a common position on the political settlement of the Syria crisis.

"There is no doubt that stability and security in Syria reflect positively on security and stability in Lebanon, in Iran and the region in general; the shameful and heinous acts carried out by the terrorist and extremist groups are not related to the religion of Islam by any means," Boroujerdi added.

He pointed to the status quo of Iran-Lebanon relations, and said, "Iran is ready to build on the bright, positive and constructive political circumstances that have arisen in Lebanon.”

The Lebanese prime minister, for his part, warned against the threat of Israel for the Muslim countries, and said, "Muslim nations should close their ranks in the face of Israeli attempts to take advantage of rifts among Muslim countries and threatening the Middle East."

He, meantime, said that Muslim unity serves as a prelude to the establishment of a major Islamic Economic Bloc

He urged the Muslim countries to unite to pave the way for the establishment of a major economic bloc.

"We need to put aside our differences and focus on mutual interests instead; cooperation among Muslim countries can result in forming a major economic bloc," Hariri added.

Hariri further underlined his resolve to reinforce relations between Beirut and Tehran in all areas, specially in economy and trade, calling for measures to remove the obstacles to the expansion of bilateral ties.
