RNA - They called on the anti-regime protesters to step up their peaceful rallies and gear up for commemorating the anniversary of Bahrain’s revolution on February 14, according to al-Ahed news website.
The call came as rallies in protest at recent execution of three young activists continue in the Persian Gulf country.
On January 15, Bahrain’s ruling regime executed the three anti-government activists over their alleged role in a 2014 bomb attack, amid widespread public anger against the death verdicts.
On January 9, Bahrain’s Court of Cassation upheld the death penalties given to Sami Mushaima, Abbas Jamil Tahir al-Sami’ and Ali Abdulshahid al-Singace over allegations of killing a member of Emirati forces who had been assisting Manama in its suppression of Bahraini protesters in the northern village of al-Daih back in March 2014.
Amnesty international said the two men’s trial was grossly unfair and relied on “forced confessions” while the pair did not have access to their lawyers.
Bahrain, home to the US Navy’s 5th Fleet, has been rocked by a wave of anti-regime demonstrations since the beginning of the popular uprising.
Scores of people have been killed and hundreds of others wounded or detained amid Manama’s crackdown on dissent and widespread discrimination against the country’s Shiite majority.
