RNA - The ceasefire should not be allowed to turn into an opportunity for Takfiri terrorists to reinforce themselves, Shamkhani said on Tuesday during a meeting with Syrian Prime Minister Imad Khamis in Tehran.
Khamis arrived in the Iranian capital on Tuesday morning at the head of a senior economic delegation.
The senior Iranian official further underscored the need for vigilance against potential plots against the successful anti-terror cooperation among Tehran, Moscow and Damascus.
Khamis, for his part, thanked Iran for its continued support for the Syrian nation and government and urged the need for a political solution to the ongoing Syrian crisis.
Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups currently controlling parts of it.
According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
