Rasa - Head of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi renewed his country's support for the Iraqi nation and government in their fight against terrorism.

RNA - "We support the Iraqi government and people in their ongoing fight against the ISIL terrorist group," Boroujerdi said in a meeting with Iraqi Vice President Nouri al-Maliki in Tehran on Monday.

 

The senior lawmaker submitted Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani's invitation letter to al-Maliki to attend an upcoming conference on supporting Palestinian Intifada, due to be held in Tehran in the near future.

 

In relevant remarks on Sunday, Boroujerdi and Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jafari in a meeting in Baghdad discussed bilateral ties and regional developments.

 

During the meeting in the Iraqi capital, Boroujerdi and al-Jafari underlined the need for political solution to the regional crises, specially the situations in Iraq and Syria.

 

"The two countries have strategic and important relations," Boroujerdi said during the meeting.

 

The senior Iranian lawmaker called on Tehran and Baghdad to boost their economic and trade cooperation.

 

The Iraqi foreign minister, for his part, said Tehran and Baghdad are on the right track of broadening their mutual cooperation.
