RNA – Addressing the audience at the second round of meetings for the Strategic Council of Population Policies of Iran, Ayatollah Ali-Reza Arafi, the head of the Islamic Seminaries, asserted, “The Islamic Seminaries are here to play their part in making policies in the issue of population control.”
He added, “We have crucial roles to play in all areas such as jurisprudence, theology as well as providing the theoretical framework for the population policies. So we will make our best efforts to play our part effectively in these regards.”
“The population policies announced by Ayatollah Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, were discussed in the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution and necessary measures are currently being taken,” Ayatollah Arafi added.
The member of the Supreme Council of the Islamic Seminaries added, “The new family planning policies on population growth are highly regarded as a virtuous act in Islam."
Referring to the international views regarding Iran’s population policy, Ayatollah Arafi reiterated, “The new wave of population growth in Iran could be effective in other countries as well since it can start a movement in the Muslim world in terms of family planning policies.”
