RNA - "The resolution issued by the UN Security Council is an effective measure to help the international drive against terrorism," Amir Abdollahian told reporters on Sunday night.

Amir Abdollahian, meantime, called for international resolve to fight terrorism, and said, "Although the Americans did not veto the resolution, they still have double-standard policy toward terrorism."

The top advisor reiterated that the Americans have always broken promises and have not adopted well-calculated approach towards the international campaign against terrorism, because they always think of their interests.

He said that the roles of Russia and Turkey in trying to resolve the Syrian crisis are very significant, adding, "In the absence of serious international resolve, it will surely fail."

Amir Abdollahian also pointed to the upcoming Syria Peace Talks due to be held in Astana, Kazakhstan, and said, "Naturally, the meeting has had preliminaries whose first stage was victory of resistance in Aleppo, a major step on which Syrian nation and government should be congratulated."

He said that second step was ceasefire in Syria which was supported by the Security Council, he said, noting that the cases pave the way for a meeting due to be held in Kazakhstan to materialize the diplomatic approach on Syria.

In relevant remarks on Sunday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem in Tehran welcomed establishment of ceasefire in Syria.

"I congratulate the Syrian government, army and nation on their victory over the terrorists in Syria, mainly in Aleppo, and also welcome the restoration of sustainable ceasefire across the country," President Rouhani said during the meeting in the Iranian capital.

The Iranian president said that the recent victory in Aleppo gave the message to the terrorists that they will never be triumphant in the wrong approach they have chosen.

He reiterated that Iran has always supported the Syrian nation and will continue to support the country in the future, and said, "Iran, Russia and Syria adopted a timely plan through unity and solidarity which can be quite successful."
