RNA - "We have the lion share in the regional developments and are honored that we are the flag-bearer of campaign against terrorism," General Baqeri said in Tehran on Thursday.
He added that the Syrian and Iraq armies and their allies' victories against terrorist groups in Aleppo and Mosul are inspired by the Iranian forces' holy defense during the imposed war (1980-1988) which was supported by the western powers.
General Baqeri underlined that no enemy dares to make any aggression against Iran.
In relevant remarks last December, Iran's President Hassan Rouhani lauded prevailing security in Iran and the country's success in defusing terrorist threats, saying Tehran is now the forerunner of campaign against terrorism.
"Today Iran's security in the region's insecure atmosphere is exemplary," President Rouhani said in a meeting with the country's intelligence ministry directors, advisors and officials in Tehran.
The Iranian president pointed to the enemies' numerous threats against Iran and the efforts made to protect security in the country, which he said ensured the safe and secure presence of the Iranian nation in different national and religious ceremonies in large numbers in recent months. "We should appreciate all those who dedicate (their lives) and make efforts to create and strengthen security and tranquility in the country."
President Rouhani reiterated that he takes pride in security and stability of the Islamic Iran in the world, saying that many leaders of other countries have acknowledged it during their meetings with Iranian officials.
"There was a time when many western countries and opponent grouplets and enemies of the (Islamic) system were determined to make Iran the most insecure country in the region and the center of insecurity in the world, but today the Islamic Iran is the flag-bearer of security and campaign against terrorism in the region and many of the same countries have stretched their hands seeking Iran's help."
