RNA - In an interview with Tasnim, Mohammad Ebrahim Taherian warned of turbulence in Turkey’s psychological atmosphere and moves aimed at provoking public ire against Iran and its constrictive role in Syria.
If, instead of diplomacy, the media takes control of the situation, politicians will lose the ability to manage the situation, which will result in disasters like the recent assassination of Russia’s ambassador to Turkey, the Iranian diplomat added.
Pointing to the Syrian army’s success to liberate the city of Aleppo from terrorist groups after a four-year battle, Taherian said Iran has been providing advisory support for the Syrian military forces at the request of the Damascus government, rejecting the “false and provocative” allegations that have been raised against Iran in Turkish media outlets.
He further condemned a purposeful movement in the Turkish press that attempts to prevent Iran’s stances and its support for the Ankara government immediately after a July coup attempt in Turkey from being known.
The Syrian army recaptured the northwestern city of Aleppo from the terrorist groups last week with the supports provided by Russia and Iran. A few days later, a group of people held demonstrations outside the Iranian consulate in Istanbul accusing Iran of hampering or preventing evacuation of civilians from Aleppo.
Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh (ISIL), controlling parts of it.
