RNA - During his speech in Westminster on the occasion of the International Day for Human Rights, Corbyn has accused British Prime Minister of sacrificing human rights for arms sales to repressive states in the Persian Gulf, saying that “This week, the prime minister has chose to travel to the Persian Gulf for talks on security and negotiations on arms sales to dictatorial regimes of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain”, Badr News reported.

The Labor Party leader added that both Riyadh and Manama “are well known for extremely bad records on human rights, there is a closure for newspapers and TV stations that criticize the government, and the use of torture in response to the protests, as the imposition of the death penalty, as well as crush on women’s rights”.

Theresa May had attended a summit held by GCC to support military and economic ties with the Persian Gulf states, despite many calls from human rights organizations on her to raise the cases of widespread abuses against human rights and in these countries, especially in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
