RNA - The comprehensive military campaign to liberate the Northern Iraqi city of Mosul continued on Sunday with the Iraqi volunteer forces ending the fifth round of military operations in the Western flank of the city of Mosul, while other units of armed forces declared that they have set 31 districts free in the city.
PMF Ends 5th Phase of Operation, 31 Mosul's Districts Liberated
The Iraqi volunteer forces (Hashd al-Shaabi) ended the fifth round of their military operation in the Western flank of the city of Mosul as the country's joint military forces have seized back 31 districts in the city.
"Hashd al-Shaabi has concluded its fifth phase of military operations in the Western flank of Mosul after liberating Tal Abta," the Iraqi volunteer forces' media center declared on Sunday.
On November 25, the Iraqi volunteer forces started the Fifth round of their military operation to capture the remaining areas in the Western flank of Mosul.
Meantime, the Nineveh Liberation Operation Command Center announced that Iraq's joint military forces have managed to win back 31 districts of Mosul and are purging the ISIL terrorists from the newly-liberated areas.
Iraqi Troops Gain More Ground in Mosul despite ISIL Inhumane Tactics
Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Units captured two new districts in the war-ravaged city of Mosul in Iraq’s Northwestern Nineveh Governorate.
“Counter-Terrorism Units liberated the districts of al-Murur and Qadissiyah al-Oula in Mosul,” the Iraqi Army General Command said in an official statement, ARA News reported.
“ISIL suffered heavy losses under heavy bombardment by our forces,” it added.
Iraqi Security Forces also seized control of three neighborhoods in the Eastern part of Mosul city after fierce clashes with ISIL fighters.
“The ISF have secured the neighborhoods of al-Adil, Taamim and al-Eylam,” the Iraqi General Command said.
15 Decomposed Bodies Found in Southern Mosul
Iraqi security forces found on Sunday 15 decomposed bodies of civilians strewn inside a water well South of Mosul, presumably executed by ISIL militants, local officials said.
Head of the Shura district council, Khaled al-Gar, said in a statement that the bodies were found at a water well a Saf al-Tout, adding that security forces and concerned authorities were working to identify the dead civilians. He said initial information suggest they were executed by ISIL, Iraqi News reported.
Shura had been recaptured by Iraqi joint forces late November.
Iraqi Forces Battle ISIL for Control of Village Southeast of Mosul
Iraqi army forces, backed by popular forces, said they were advancing in the fight to retake Ganous village South of Mosul from ISIL militants.
Army troops engaged in heavy machine-gun clashes with militants holed up in the village of Ganous, near the town of Shirqat, about 70 km South of Mosul, NRT reported.
The forces have been fighting for the control of the village for almost a week now, but the militants have hit back with suicide car bombs and rocket-propelled grenades, army and police officers said.
