RNA - "The occupying regime of Israel has been trying to weaken democracy in the region by supporting the terrorist groups," Rahimpour said, addressing the 9th Bali Democracy Forum in Indonesia.

 

Referring to the significant role of the religious democracy in Iran, the Iranian deputy foreign minister underlined the importance of Iran's achievements over past 37 years, including overcoming the problems of eight years of imposed war and tough economic sanctions.

 

The Iranian deputy foreign minister pointed to the spread of extremism and terrorism in the region, and said, "The Zionist occupiers are working against democracy in the region."

 

Rahimpour said that Iran has always respected cultural and religious diversity and consolidation of cooperation between neighbors and international community.

 

"Iran spares no effort to restore stability and security in the Middle East region," he added.

 

The Bali forum follows the theme of ‘Religion, Democracy and Pluralism’ this year.

 

The BDF is an annual event initiated by Indonesia in 2008, It is an inclusive and open intergovernmental forum on the development of democracy in the Asia Pacific region.

 

The forum aims to promote regional and international cooperation in the field of peace and democracy through dialogue based on sharing experiences and best practices that adhere to the principle of equality, mutual respect and understanding.
