RNA - A truck bomb went off in the Shoumeli village, 120 kilometers Southeast of Baghdad, targeting vehicles loaded with passengers most of them Iranians who were returning home from the holy shrines in Iraq after Arbaeen rituals.
"Daesh (the ISIL) terrorists commit such barbaric crimes because they are desperate," Alavi said in his message released on the occasion of Thursday's terrorist attack in Hilla region of Iraq which claimed lives of tens of people.
Alavi, meantime, sympathized with the bereaved families of the victims of the terrorist attack as well as the Iranian nation and the Muslim world.
The Iranian intelligence minister also wished health and speedy recovery for those injured in the terrorist attack.
Alavi underlined that the ISIL terrorist group is facing several defeats in the region and that is why it is desperate.
"Such barbaric acts will not affect the Muslims," the Iranian intelligence minister added.
Reports so far put the number of the dead at more than 71, including 24 Iranians with a lot more injured.
The ISIL has claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack.
