Offering deep condolences to the families of the martyrs who were claimed by the blast, Hezbollah called for exerting more efforts to eradicate the terrorists, prevent them from achieving their despicable goals, and shatter their masters’ wishes by what preserves the Iraqis’ freedom, dignity, security and stability.
A truck loaded with explosives went off on Thursday at a gas station in the Shomali village in the suburbs of the city of al-Hilla, located 120 kilometers (75 miles) southeast of the capital Baghdad and around 80 kilometers (50 miles) from Karbala.
Also, US officials condemned the attack.
"The United States remains steadfast in its partnership with the Iraqi people and government and this attack only serves to strengthen our resolve in defeating ISIL," National Security Council Spokesman Ned Price said in a statement.
Reports say most of the victims were Iranian nationals.
The incident occurred at a time when buses packed with Shiite pilgrims were parked at the gas station. The people were returning from Arbaeen mourning rituals in the holy city of Karbala.
Later, the Takfiri Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorist group claimed responsibility for the deadly incident.
