RNA - Speaking at a joint press conference with his Slovenian counterpart, Borut Pahor, in Tehran on Tuesday, Rouhani pointed to his talks with Pahor earlier in the day and said the two sides discussed the importance of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the nuclear deal reached between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) in July 2015 and implemented in January.
“Iran and the European Union are seeking to bolster this important multilateral agreement with all their power and use the post-JCPOA opportunities,” he stated.
The JCPOA terminated all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran after coming into force.
Elsewhere, the Iranian president pointed to the cooperation agreements signed between Tehran and Ljubljana prior to the press conference and said there are many capacities in both countries which should be utilized to cement ties in all areas.
The two countries signed three memorandums of understanding (MoUs) that entail economic cooperation, interaction in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector, as well as scientific cooperation in nanotechnology.
Pahor, for his part, said his trip to Iran along with a large economic delegation proves that a new chapter has opened in the history of the relations between Iran and Slovenia.
