RNA – In a statement, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyed Ebrahim Raeisi, the custodian of the Holy Shrine of Imam al-Ridha expressed his condolences over the massacre of Husayni mourners in Nigeria and condemned the terrorist attack.

Hujjat al-Islam Raeisi’s message is as follows:

In the Name of God, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

The deaths and injuries of a large number of Arba’in mourners in Nigeria created a very deep sadness in my heart. The innocent Shi’ahs of Nigeria have been antagonized by their arrogant rulers for several years. However, like their honorable leader, Shaykh Ibrahim Zakzaky, these people never gave up their resistance against these cruel rulers.

The recent terrorist attack in Nigeria which is in line with that of Samarra was another invasion supported by the enemies of the Muslims, who, in their wishful delusions, sought to destroy the Ashura movement and kill it off.

However, these roots of evil and rancour have to know that such incidents will never stop the will of the great Muslim nation for the eternal fight against the imperialist powers of the world and the bright route of our martyred Imam, Imam Husayn, and his 72 companions, who were the constant light of guidance for these glorious nations.

Condemning this painful incident, I want, from the vicinity of the Holy Shrine of Imam al-Ridha, God to grant these innocent martyrs and their families with high ranks and abundant reward and good patience respectively.

The Custodian of Holy Shrine of Imam al-Ridha,
Sayyed Ebrahim Raeisi
