RNA – On his first day of visit to Paris, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyid Jawad al-Shahristani, the representative of Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Sistani in Iran, paid a visit to the Catholic University of Paris and was warmly welcomed by the university’s president and head of its Faculty of Theology.
During the meeting, Hujjat al-Islam al-Shahristani expressed hope that such meetings would help approximate the religions of Islam and Christianity adding, “In the world today we are witnessing great extremism and radical ideologies. In such a world interfaith dialogue and peaceful coexistence among different religions has become of great importance.”
He added, “Therefore holding such meetings in which people of different faiths and religious backgrounds take part and discuss their ideologies would help deepen the relationship between Islam and Christianity, it’s essential to participate in such joint meetings in a consistent and coherent way and the results must be comprehensively and appropriately managed.”
The dean of the Catholic University of Paris also asserted that their university has recently begun their cooperation with the Shi’ah world and up to this point have enjoyed remarkable results in their efforts.
In the next part of his trip to France, Hujjat al-Islam al-Shahristani visited Paris Sorbonne University and met with its dean as well as its faculty members.
