RNA - Speaking at a meeting with President of the Cypriot House of Representatives Demetris Syllouris in Tehran on Tuesday, President Rouhani underlined that problems facing the region have their roots in foreign interventions aimed at exploiting regional gaps.
“It is unfortunate that today, millions of innocent people in regional countries, like Iraq, Syria, Yemen and Libya, are suffering numerous difficulties,” Rouhani said.
He further emphasized that in order to achieve welfare and progress, regional countries have no choice other than establishing sustainable peace and security through all-out cooperation.
Syllouris, for his part, stressed that military intervention in the region creates new problems, urging efforts to find political solutions to regional issues.
Some parts of the Middle East have been plagued by conflicts, violence and terrorism in recent years due to a lack of unity of regional countries as well as plots hatched by ousiders.
Countries like Iraq and Syria have been gripped by insurgency and terrorism, while Yemen has been suffering from a brutal aggression by a Saudi-led coalition.
Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt and Lebanon, meanwhile, have been facing a surge in terrorist activities.
