RNA - Ali Shamkhani, who is the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, made the remark while visiting drone production lines and an exhibition featuring capabilities in the area of the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) belonging to the Aerospace Division of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) on Saturday.
Together with devout personnel, he said, Iran’s “indigenously-made equipment such as advanced missiles with varying ranges and new-generation UAVs… have brought such capacity and authority to the country that would prevent the thought of [launching] military aggression against the Islamic Republic from occurring to any sane enemy.”
He asserted that the Islamic Republic had shown in practice that it knows no boundaries in developing its conventional defensive power.
Turning threats to opportunities
Shamkhani said that experts at the IRGC’s Aerospace Division had applied reverse engineering to and updated the American drones that had violated the Iranian skies and had been captured, creating indigenous Iranian equipment.
The achievement showed the country’s capability “to turn ‘the threat of the US’s illegitimate presence in the region’ into ‘an opportunity for the enhancement of power and capability,’” he said.
“Our defensive and offensive power is complex and multifaceted and based on domestic capability and religious teachings, and, as history testifies, has never been and will never be used toward aggression and expansionism,” Shamkhani said.
‘Empowerment of resistance’
The Iranian official also said the country prided itself on transferring its defensive knowhow to the people of Palestine and the resistance front against the occupying regime of Israel.
“Today, the resistance front’s effective and flexible combat capability has challenged the world’s biggest arms arsenals and has created a strong barrier against invaders and imperialists.”
