Rasa - On Sunday, September 25, the United States, France and Britain called for an emergency United Nations Security Council meeting on Syria.
United Nations Security Council

RNA - Even though a week earlier she had said such meetings “are a diversion from what is happening on the ground”, US Envoy Samantha Power spent this meeting furiously railing at “Russian barbarism,” insisting that Russia’s operations against the Nusra Front – an Al Qaeda affiliate - cannot be considered “counter-terrorism”.

Power blamed Russia and Syria for everything that has gone wrong over the last few days. She went on to insist that Russia is “abusing” its position as a permanent member of the UN Security Council in carrying out airstrikes in Syria that have killed civilians. Power and her British counterpart, both representing permanent members of the Security Council who have also killed civilians in Syria airstrikes, including hundreds of thousands by supporting terror proxies, finally insisted that the war was at this point Russia’s fault!

In other words, the architects of the war admitted that before this week’s Syrian military escalation in Aleppo, the war was all their fault (until Russia decided to intervene), and that defrauding the United Nations is their ordinary business practice. We couldn't agree more:

One of the more politically frustrating aspects of the last five and a half years in the West is the unwillingness of the powers-that-be to address their destructive policy on Syria. Syria was once a sovereign state like any other. It had a central government and fixed boundaries.

The economy functioned with considerable revenue coming from the oil sector. In 2009, tourism accounted for 12 percent of the economy.

All that changed when the colonial hordes decided to regime change Syria. As fact, microcosm and metaphor, the scandal of their support for “moderate” rebels, including Al Nusra Front, creating yet another failed state in the heartlands of the Muslim world, killing or helping to kill hundreds of thousands of civilians, charging the Arab states for the privilege of American “protection”, and then telling the world that their war on Syria is at this point Russia’s fault, is indeed loaded.

No doubt the relentless propaganda of “Russia’s fault”, “Syrian government’s fault”, “Iran’s fault” is meant to isolate their anti-terror alliance from the broader system of political and diplomatic control at the UN as a permanent new state of affairs. It also seeks to pit the facts as lived by millions of Syrian people against the insistence by regime changers that cessation of hostilities - creation of no-fly zones and the circumstances that would help resupply and regroup terror proxies - would somehow produce a widely-shared and benevolent outcome this time around.

However, what the UN emergency ‘scandal’ rendered evident is that what the hard-nosed propagandists are after is the system of predatory ceasefire that always exists as institutionalized strategy taking in their service, and their service alone - under the guise of humanitarian aims and serving the world interest.

The fact remains that the alliance of Iran, Syria, Russia and Hezbollah has shifted the balance of power back toward the people of Syria through the running counter-terror military escalation in Aleppo. The final outcome is broadly rising security circumstance for most people, a tenuous prosperity for supporting the national armed forces, and a new age for self-determination, freedom and democracy.

This last point should be made loudly and repeatedly: According to Russian Ambassador to UN Vitaly Churkin, the peace process in Syria is “almost an impossible task now.” Also according to his Syrian counterpart, Bashar Ja’afari, the political solution to the war requires fighting terrorist groups like Nusra - something the architects of the war say won't do, even though millions face the prospect of death in transit or limbo in refugee camps as a consequence.

That this still plays out through their “barbarian” foreign policies is so troubling. As became clear at the UN meeting, specifically when all Western officials and ambassadors stormed out, the imperialist hordes embody the ethos of the self-enriching grafter class from whence only dirty wars and double standards like Syria’s emerge.
