RNA - "The incorrect policies and practical support of the world powers and certain regional states for the terrorist groups have spread insecurity and instability in the region, specially Iraq and Syria," Larijani said in a meeting with Iraqi Planning Minister Salman al-Jumaili in Tehran on Sunday.

He underlined the necessity for all the regional states to fight against extremist and terrorist groups, and said the regional crises should be resolved through political and diplomatic means.

Larijani also stressed Iran's continued policy of support for stability and tranquility in the region.

Jumaili, for his part, appreciated Iran's support and assistance to the Iraqi nation in the war on terrorism.

In relevant remarks on Saturday, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani also blasted the western countries for continued support for the terrorist groups in the region.

"The measures taken by the West to counter the true Islamic teachings are to blame for the spread of terrorism throughout the world," Shamkhani said.

He went on to say that the West’s historic mistakes, namely the use of terrorism as a means and support for deviant ideologies to counter the genuine and revolutionary Islamic ideology as well as double standard policies in the fight against terrorism, have led to the perilous status quo.
