RNA - "This center is successfully fulfilling its task of intelligence sharing with other countries which are member of the center," General Alexander Smolovy said.

Smolovy's remarks came in reaction to allegations by some western and Arab media which claimed that the Baghdad Intelligence Sharing Center has ended operation.

"There are of course certain powers who want this center to be closed down, but to no avail," he said.

He, meantime, reiterated that other countries willing to join the center are welcome.

Smolovy pointed to the terrorists' use of chemical weapons against civilians in the region, and said, "The ISIL terrorists have used this weapon several times in Iraq and Syria.

In September it emerged that Iraq, Iran, Syria and Russia had set up the intelligence sharing center in Baghdad to collect and analyze intel on ISIL and other militant groups in the Middle East. The center is run by military representatives from each country, who will each head the center on a three month rotational basis.
