RNA - "We are sending today an inter-agency convoy that will cross conflict lines into a besieged area of Rural Damascus," Jens Laerke, spokesman of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, told Reuters.
"We will advise on the exact locations once the convoy has actually reached those locations."
Elizabeth Hoff, the World Health Organization (WHO) representative in Syria, said on Wednesday that the UN health agency planned to deliver medical supplies on Thursday to the rebel-held besieged Damascus suburb of Moadamiya, subject to the normal security risk assessments.
On Tuesday, the UN said at least 18 trucks in a 31-vehicle convoy were destroyed late Monday as they were en route to deliver humanitarian assistance to the hard-to-reach town of Orum al-Kubra, killing a Red Crescent staff member and civilians.
Syria’s five-year foreign-backed militancy has so far claimed the lives of at least 400,000 people.
