RNA - The US Senate on Wednesday cleared the way for a $1.15 billion sale of tanks and other military equipment to Saudi Arabia.
The Senate voted 71 to 27 to kill legislation that would have stopped the sale.
Hours earlier, some 50 civilians were killed and scores more injured in a Saudi airstrike on a busy marketplace in Yemen’s western Hudaydah province.
Spokesman for the Houthi Ansarullah Movement Mohammed Abdulsalam referred to the attack as continuation of Saudi crimes against the Yemeni nation.
He added that its concurrence with the US Senate’s vote to clear the way for selling arms to Riyadh visibly shows Washington’s role in the continued aggression against Yemen and the blockade of the country.
Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been launching airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to the fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.
More than 10,000 Yemenis, including many women and children, have died in the Saudi-led aggression so far.
