RNA - "The Syrian army units clashed with Fatah al-Sham Front (the newly-formed al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group previously known as the al-Nusra Front) terrorists who were trying to penetrate into a military center of the government forces in the surrounding areas of al-Darkhabieh in Eastern Ghouta, killing a number of them and injuring many others," a military source said.
The source noted that the Syrian army hit the terrorists' military convoys in a location between al-Moqeilabiyeh and al-Darkhabieh in Western Ghouta, destroying their military hardware and inflicting casualties on them.
Meantime, the terrorists targeted the Syrian army's military positions in al-Reihan farms, Kafr Batna, Tal Kurdi and Housh al-Mobaraka in Eastern Ghouta as the Syrian army made considerable advances in the Southern part of Rahaba al-Eshara in the same region after inflicting heavy casualties on the terrorists.
On Tuesday, the Syrian army resumed special operations in Damascus province after declaring the end of ceasefire, killing dozens of terrorists in Jobar.
The Syrian army forces carried out missile strikes against the positions of Fatah al-Sham Front in Eastern Ghouta which resulted in killing and injuring a number of Takfiri terrorists inside the town of Jobar.
According to a battlefield source, after the army attack with ground-to-ground missiles, the army soldiers managed to kill at least 15 militants near the Electricity Foundation building in Jobar.
Meanwhile, the ground units of Syrian army attacked the defense lines of Fatah al-Sham Front inside the town, destroying their hideouts and weapons.
The Syrian army declared end of ceasefire on Monday, regretting that militants did not adhere to any of the provisions stated in the truce agreement.
The Syrian army reaffirmed commitment to fight against terror after the end of truce, and did not add whether the truce will be reinstated any time in future.
The truce started last week. On September 9, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry announced a new peace plan to address the conflict in Syria that called for a ceasefire and anti-terrorism cooperation among other clauses of the treaty.
According to the Russian General Staff, the terrorist groups in Syria have violated the ceasefire over 300 times since it took effect.
A senior military source had warned on Monday that the Syrian army is on alert to restart operations against the terrorists in Douma and Jobar in Damascus province in case they violate the ceasefire.
"The Syrian army troops have still kept the siege of the city of Douma in Damascus countryside after retaking control of Hawsh a-Farah and they are waiting for the Douma people's response to the national reconciliation plan and a repetition of the successful Darayya experience," the source told FNA.
"In case efforts to implement the national reconciliation plans in Douma and Jobar fail, the army will advance towards new points in these regions," he added.
