RNA - Speaking at a forum in the Institute for Iran-Eurasia Studies (IRAS) in Tehran on Sunday evening, Dzhagaryan expressed deep sorrow over the bombing of the Syrian Army’s positions in Deir ez-Zor over the weekend, which led to the deaths of at least 90 Syrian troops.
Whether the airstrikes were a purposeful attack or a mistake, they were a “serious assistance” for terrorists, he stated.
The diplomat went on to say that Moscow has condemned Washington for the military attack and is waiting for a clear explanation from the US.
Over 90 Syrian soldiers were killed and 100 injured in the airstrikes by the US-led coalition. Russia said the attacks were performed by two F-16 fighter jets and two A-10 support aircraft.
The Syrian General Command called the bombing a “serious and blatant aggression” against Syrian forces, and said it was “conclusive evidence” that the US and its allies support Daesh militants.
The US Central Command later issued a statement, saying that it had no intention of targeting Syrian government forces near Deir ez-Zor.
This is while, an unnamed US military official has said that the bombings were carried out using US intelligence, which was being gathered for days.
