Rasa - The Daesh Takfiri terrorist group has executed four of its own members after accusing them of providing information to the Iraqi air force for a recent airstrike that claimed the lives of a number of its senior commanders.

RNA - “Daesh organization executed four of its members by firing squad in the vicinity of Matbija” on the border between the provinces of Salahuddin and Diyala, a commander of Iraq's pro-government Hashd al-Shaabi, also known as the Popular Mobilization Units, told al-Sumaria news website on Friday.

Uday al-Khadran said the militants were executed for being involved in the September 12 airstrike.

The Iraqi airstrike targeted a Daesh position in Matbija and claimed the lives of six senior commanders of Daesh as well as scores of their aides and bodyguards, Khadran added.

The northern and western parts of Iraq have been plagued by gruesome violence ever since Daesh began its campaign in June 2014. The militants have been committing vicious crimes against all ethnic and religious communities in Iraq, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds and Christians.

The Iraqi army and fighters from the Popular Mobilization Units have been engaged in joint operations to retake militant-held regions.
