Rasa – The chairman of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq said Iraqi army has fought against Daesh in an effort to destroy the Takfiri terrorist group and bring an end to the Takfiri terrorist groups’ security and military threats against the country.

RNA – Hujjat al-Islam Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, the chairman of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, has met with Stuart Jones, the American ambassador to Iraq in Baghdad to discuss the latest developments in regard to the security and political situation in the country and the region as well as to discuss the battle to liberate Mosul.

 

During the meeting, which marked the end of Jones’ diplomatic mission in Baghdad, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, said that the Iraqi army and Popular Mobilization Forces have fought against Daesh in an effort to destroy the Takfiri terrorist group and bring an end to the Takfiri terrorist groups’ security and military threats against the war-torn country.

 

The Iraqi Shi’a cleric and Washington’s ambassador to Baghdad also discussed the operation to liberate Iraq’s second-largest city of Mosul and the surrounding Nineveh Governorate, which have been under Daesh’s control since June 2014, and the Iraqi army’s preparations for this operation and the security issues facing Iraq.

 

Hujjat al-Islam al-Hakim also met with Ric Wells, Australia’s Deputy Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Christopher Langman, Canberra’s Ambassador to Baghdad.

 

During the meeting, his Eminence said that a detailed plan for improving the security and strategic situation in Iraq, solving the country’s political problems, assistance to refugees and helping them return to their homes in the areas which are currently occupied by Daesh terrorists are the issues should be considered after the complete destruction of Daesh.
