RNA – In a Tuesday statement, 203 lawmakers said the Muslim and oppressed Bahraini people have long exposed to the hostile, vindictive and inhumane behavior of the Al Khalifah regime.
It added that the Bahrainis have fought the tyrannical regime with patience while international organizations have remained silent in the face of "this black and dark" case and refrain from taking any decisive action against this oppression.
The lawmakers slammed the cruel Bahraini rulers for revoking the citizenship of prominent Shia Muslim cleric, Ayatollah Isa Qasim, and committing hundreds of other crimes, including the imprisonment of children and women, as well as detaining political and religious leaders, saying that such moves indicate the imbecility of the Al Khalifah regime.
The Iranian legislators added that they “regard this issue as a great historic disgrace for international bodies and so-called advocates of human rights as well as the US, Saudi Arabia and the Al Khalifah regime.”
The statement was read by a member of the Iranian Parliament’s Presiding Board, Ahmad Amirabadi, at the end of an open session of the parliament.
Bahraini authorities revoked Ayatollah Qasim’s citizenship in late June. They later dissolved the main opposition bloc, al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, as well as the Islamic Enlightenment Institution, founded by the 79-year-old cleric, besides another opposition movement, the al-Risalah Islamic Association.
Since February 14, 2011, thousands of anti-regime protesters have held numerous demonstrations in Bahrain on an almost daily basis, calling on the Al Khalifah family to relinquish power.
Troops from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have been deployed to the country to assist the Bahraini government in its crackdown on peaceful protests.
Scores of people have been killed and hundreds of others injured or arrested in the Bahraini crackdown on the anti-regime activists.
