RNA – Kianoush Rostami, who won a gold medal in weightlifting in the recently concluded Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, received an honorary badge of service in the Holy Shrine of Lady Fatimah al-Ma’sumah in Qom, Iran.

 

The Rio Olympics’ gold medalist visited the Holy Shrine of Lady Fatimah al-Ma’sumah on Wednesday, August 24 and performed his pilgrimage and later met with Ayatollah Sayyed Mohammad Sa’idi, the custodian of the shrine.

 

During the meeting Ayatollah Sa’idi said, “Your gesture of offering your gold medal to the martyred defenders of the holy shrine who fought in Syria and Iraq proved your gratitude to our Holy Imams and the shrine defenders’ efforts, your act made the people of Iran, including the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution [Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei] jubilant, especially the families of those martyrs who have sacrificed their lives to protect the holy shrines.”

 

At the end of the meeting, Rostami received his honorary badge of service in Holy Shrine of Lady Fatimah al-Ma’sumah and asserted, “It goes without saying that this badge of honour is more valuable to me than the Olympic gold medal since the energy I receive from this badge will definitely enhance my performance in future competitions.”
