RNA – Saudi security forces have foiled a planned suicide attack on a Shi’a mosque in the Qatif region in eastern Saudi Arabia, where many Shi’a Muslims live, al-Arabiya news channel and other Saudi media reported early on Wednesday.

 

The Saudi-owned satellite channel said security forces killed a man who was wearing an explosive belt and arrested another.

 

Saudi media said the interior ministry was expected to issue a statement on the attack soon.

 

Saudi newspaper Asharq al-Awsat carried a similar report but said the second man was wounded after security forces exchanged fire with him.

 

Since late 2014, Saudi Arabia has been witnessing a series of bombings and shootings claimed by the ISIS Takfiri terrorist group (created and supported by Saudi Wahhabis) and mostly targeting the country’s Shi’a Muslims in eastern part of the kingdom.

 

Last June, four Shi’a Muslims were killed why trying to prevent a bomber from entering al-Anoud mosque in Dammam city in eastern Saudi Arabia and close to Qatif.

 

Last October, an armed terrorists opened fire on Shi’a Muslims commemorating Ashura, them martyrdom anniversary of the third Shi’a Imam, Imam Husayn, in the eastern Qatif region, killing five before he was shot dead by the police.

 

In January 2016, a bomber targeted a mosque in al-Ahsa, killing four people.

 

And in July this year, two bomb blasts hit near a Shi’a mosque in Qatif while a third bomb went off close to a security headquarters at Prophet’s Mosque in the western city of Madinah.
