Rasa - Israeli bulldozers Monday resumed construction of a route in the occupied Shebaa Farms that had been halted following an accident last week, Lebanese state media reported.

RNA - The National News Agency said that bulldozers were accompanied by a heavy deployment of Israeli soldiers, the Daily Star reported.

Israeli forces have been excavating and constructing a road between the Blue Line, which is the internationally recognized border, and Israel’s so-called “technical fence,” south of the divide.

Israeli drones flew at a medium altitude over Hasbaya areas, Mount Hermon (Jabal al-Sheikh), and the Shebaa Farms as bulldozers resumed work.

They stopped work on the 2-km road after a collision last week between a military vehicle and a bulldozer.

Lebenese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil sent a formal letter to the Lebanese delegation at the United Nations in New York on Friday, urging them to file a complaint with the UN Security Council regarding recent Israeli border violations.

The road is meant to create a passage between that section of the occupied Shebaa Farms and the nearby occupied Kfar Shuba hills.

Israel violates Lebanon’s sovereignty on an almost daily basis, as aircraft and navy boats regularly encroach on Lebanon’s borders and conduct surveillance operations of the Army and Hezbollah.

The occupied Shebaa Farms are disputed territory between Lebanon and Syria, which Israel refused to relinquish during its May 2000 withdrawal from most of southern Lebanon.
