RNA - Zarif made the remarks in a meeting with Iraq parliament Speaker Salim al-Jabouri.
The foriegn minister praised political stability in Iraq, saying that all Iraqi leaders including the parliament speaker have taken effective steps to create such an atmosphere.
We are confident that Iraqi government and nation have been successful so far in fight against extremism and terrorism, Zarif said.
He hoped that the campaign against terrorism and extremism in Iraq would be at the final stages and that confrontation with terrorism in Mosul would lead to unity of all Iraqi ethnic groups, tribes and followers of different religions.
Zarif said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is pleased with all Iraqi leaders sense of responsibility in the international campaign against terrorism.
Zarif also praised the Iraqi grand religious leader for encouraging to liberate Iraqi territories from occupation of the terrorist groups.
Considering important role of Iraq in the region, Zarif said that peace and security in the region should be restored by participation of all countries.
He said that Iran is not seeking unhealthy competition or confrontation in the region and believes that escalation of tension by some governments will damage interests of all regional nations.
Salim al-Jabouri thanked Iran for support to the Iraqi government and nation in fight against terrorism and called Iran as an effective and very important state in the region.
The Iraqi speaker said that terrorism is the most important and immediate threat to the entire region and that the Iraqi government in light of national unity defeated terrorist groups and restored tranquility to Iraq and the entire region.
Daesh (ISIS) is on the brink of full defeat, Jabouri said, adding that Iran's role in the region is undeniable and unique.
Jabouri met in the morning with his Iranian counterpart Ali Larijani and is scheduled to confer with President Rouhani.
