RNA - Former deputy foreign minister for Arab-African affairs made the remarks in a meeting with a visiting delegation from Yemen on Sunday.

The official said that the Yemen issue has only political solution and urged Saudi Arabia to give up attacking the Yemeni people.

Holding the first session of Yemen parliament has the clear message for the world that Yemeni people and the country’s political leaders would continue protecting their country’s sovereignty and national unity, he noted.

Amir-Abdollahian said that Iran’s Majlis welcomes promotion of parliamentarian ties with Yemen parliament.

Iran supports peaceful resolution of Yemen crisis without foreign interference, he added.

Head of the Yemeni delegation praised Iran’s support of Sanna and called for development of cooperation between the two countries’ parliaments.

In a move to challenge the Saudi-backed resigned government, the Yemeni parliament has held its first session since the outbreak of conflict in the Arab country almost two years ago.

Yemeni lawmakers attended the session in the country’s capital, Sanaa, on Saturday.
