RNA – “The US has spent $500 million to fund a project aiming at destroying Hezbollah’s image. To some extent they succeeded and were able to enflame religious conflicts in certain areas but we have witnessed Hezbollah’s increasing popularity among Sunnis and other sects and religious groups,” Shaykh Mustafa Malas, the head of the Lebanese National Solidarity Council, told Rasa News.
Referring to the increased media campaign against Hezbollah in recent months, the Sunni cleric explained that it’s unfortunate that many Arab media outlets have placed demonizing Hezbollah and the Islamic Resistance on their agendas.
The Lebanese Sunni cleric said that many Arab countries in the region are also misusing the vast fortunes that God has given them in this manner as they have used their resources to serve the imperial countries of the world. “Through this means, their project to destroy the image of the Islamic Resistance in the region with Arab money and serve the Zionist regime has been implemented,” he said.
He also assessed the relationship between Hezbollah and Sunni groups inside and outside Lebanon as positive and added that the perception of Hezbollah as an anti-Israeli movement is a matter of significance and respect for all domestic and foreign groups. This is far from prejudice and a completely realistic viewpoint in regard to the developments in the Arab-Islamic world.
Shaykh Malas added that the various media outlets and groups which are obstinately opposed to the Islamic Resistance cover the issues as if there is deep dissension and division between Sunnis and Hezbollah but this is nothing more than a media war and Hezbollah is well accepted among Sunni Muslims.
He noted that the goal of the Western media is to describe and transform Hezbollah into a terrorist organization in the eyes of the international community so that they can create a wave of increased hatred against the Islamic Resistance.
Shaykh Malas stated that there is a clear difference between Hezbollah as a symbol of the Islamic Resistance and Takfiri terrorist groups which only engage in killing and destruction and added that the Western media understands this and anyone who analyzes the differences between Hezbollah and the Takfiri phenomenon with a bit of fairness and authority will also realize this.
“Through resistance, Hezbollah was able to expel the Zionist enemies from Lebanese territory and liberate the occupied territories from Israeli occupation,” Shaykh Malas said.
