RNA – In a press release, Hujjat al-Islam Jalaluddin al-Saghir, the Friday prayer of Kadhimiyah and one the authorities of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, reacted to the statement made by Adel al-Jubeir, the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, in which he called for the dismantling of the Popular Mobilization Forces in Iraq, saying: “If Saudi Arabia stops supporting terrorism in Iraq, ideologically and politically, we will have no need for the Popular Mobilization Forces.”
The top Saudi diplomat also accused the Popular Mobilization Forces of fueling sectarian tensions in Iraq, calling for their dissolution and the formation of a new Iraqi government, which was met with strong backlash from Iraqi officials, religious personalities and people.
The Iraqi scholar added that if Saudi Arabia did not interfere in the internal affairs of Iraq, propagate the Takfiri extremist ideology and support ISIL terrorists, there would be security and stability in the war-torn country.
Hujjat al-Islam al-Saghir said al-Jubeir’s statements are considered as obvious and flagrant interference in the internal affairs of Iraq by Saudi Arabia and said the Iraqi government should give an appropriate response to the intervention of Saudi Arabia.
He said the Saudi Foreign Minister claimed that the Popular Mobilization Forces are a tribal group, but that the world knows well that Saudi Arabia is the main source of terrorism in Iraq.
