Rasa - Hundreds of American satanists gather at a ceremony to unveil a satanic monument in Detroit, Michigan chanting 'Hail Satan'.
Baphomet Sculpture

Rasa - A Satanic organization unveiled a controversial bronze Baphomet sculpture in Detroit just before midnight on Saturday, after trying in vain to have it installed near a 10 Commandments monument in Oklahoma.

The attendees had been told they were going to the “largest public satanic ceremony in history,” and they were welcomed for “a night of chaos, noise, and debauchery.”

Featuring a one-ton Baphomet, the totem of contemporary Satanism, the bronze statue had never been showcased, sitting on a throne with two children gazing at the goat-headed demon.

The group said prior to the ceremony that the event would “serve as a call-to-arms from which we’ll kick off our largest fight to date in the name of individual rights to free exercise against self-serving theocrats.”

Minister at the Pointe Church Todd Sanders said the US Christians could use the ceremony to their own benefit.

“The church can benefit from this because we can view this as an opportunity to get at the truth in terms of what the Satanic Temple believes,” he said.

After the state capitol in Oklahoma City rejected to host the unveiling, the ceremony was set to be held at a restaurant, whose owner canceled the event as he noticed it was a satanic one.

Detroit was chosen as the satanic group said it had “strong congregation” of more than 200 registered members.

The almost nine feet tall statue is set to be showcased in Arkansas’ Statehouse in its next stop.
