Rasa – Launching a judicial campaign, the Council of the American Islamic Relations demanded the recognition of Hijab for Muslim women in American prisons.
American Veiled Hijab

Rasa News Agency Reports – The Judicial department of the Council of the American Islamic Relations (CAIR) with the help of the country’s Department of Justice tries to force the officials to recognize the right to have Hijab for Muslim women while in prison.

In an interview with al-Arabia News Network, the executive director of CAIR in Michigan, David Walid considered the ban on Hijab in the American prisons as unjustified and stated: “I don’t understand why Hijab should be banned in prisons. While there is no ban in the American army and wearing Hijab is totally allowed.”“Each one of the American courts has their own reasons in forbidding Hijab in prisons of the country. Some believe that the ban on Hijab is for the security issues of the prison and some disagree and recognize the right to have Hijab for the Muslim prisoners.

It’s worth mentioning that the city of Novi in the state of Michigan is the only city that allows Muslim women in prison to have their veils on.
