Rasa News Agency Reports – Belgian governmental council has now decided to recognize the right to have Hijab for the professors and teachers of religious studies in the city of Grace-Hollogne.
Hijab previously were just allowed to be worn only inside the classrooms and the teachers were not allowed to wear hijab in other areas.
The decision came after a Muslim teacher complained about being prevented to wear Hijab out of the classrooms. After two years of pursuing the case, the teacher could finally make officials recognize her right to wear Hijab in educational areas.
“There is no problem with having Hijab in front of students who have chosen this kind of Islamic studies” announced the governmental council of Belgium.
This is while the officials of Grace-Hollogne are claiming that Hijab is an outstanding symbol of Islam and Islamic beliefs and having Hijab in educational areas could harm the principle of secularism and freedom of belief and could affect the thoughts of students.
