Rasa – A group of employees of the British Broadcasting Corporation striked over job cuts, workload and allegedly bullying
Rasa News Agency Reports – the British Broadcasting Corporation BBC have announced that a group of employees of the governmental media have had a strike in protest of job cuts, workload and alleged bullying.
The strike started following the vote of the National Union of Journalists (NUJ) and entertainment trade union Bectu in favor of the walkout.
The NUJ have announced that, since 2004, more than 7000 jobs have been cut. BBC also has announced that 2000 jobs will be lost over five years.
The NUJ and Bectu have also said that they have offered a report to the internal research staff of BBC which includes the “shocking” cases of bullying and annoyance.
In the current year, BBC has faced different kinds of troubles; from economical and technical problems to the sex scandal of some of the present and ex TV hosts. In one of the most wrangling cases Jimmy Saville, the old TV Show host has been accused for sexual abuse and rape for more than 100 accounts.
The Persian service of BBC has written that Michelle stein street, the secretary general of the NUJ said: “BBC’s plans have caused workload and job stress for the staff of the media, in an unacceptable way”.
