RNA - The presidential especial aide on the affairs of ethnicities and religious minorities, Hujjat al-Islam Ali Younesi, has noted that Islamic Republic of Iran finds itself duty-bound to support the freedom of religious minorities.

According to IRNA, Hujjat al-Islam Younesi, on Friday, in an address to a ceremony on the beginning of the Christian New Year, which was held in Hazrat Yousef Church of Iran’s Chaldeans and Assyrians, noted that Prophet Jesus’ (A) birth anniversary festivity doesn’t just belong to Christians, and in fact all Muslims and Iranians share this Eid because Assyrians and Chaldeans constitute an important part of ancient Iran civilization.

He added that Christian Iranians converted to Christianity much sooner than the Romans and people of European countries.

In further remarks, he referred to Surah Maryam of Holy Quran, in which God emphasizes the solidarity of all religions.

He also congratulated the birth anniversary of Prophet Jesus (A), and the new Christian year on behalf of the Iranian president and the current Iranian administration.
