“National media must protect and preserve Iran’s traditional religious culture”

RNA – In an exclusive interview with Rasa News Agency, Ayatollah Sayyed Ahmad Khatami discussed the role of the media in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The member of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom stated that the national media of Iran is like a university for the nation and has a very important role in shaping the academic culture of the public. The national media’s mission is to protect and preserve the traditional religious culture and to accept the nation’s religious values.

He echoed the statements of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution [Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei], where he stated that Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) is duty-bound to promote religion, morality and the Islamic lifestyle as well as to raise awareness among people from all walks of life.

Ayatollah Khatami said all radio and television programming should be created with these Islamic values in mind. He spoke of the importance of creating films and the broadcasting of informative lectures and religious sermons throughout the country. “All must be consistent with our [Islamic] religious beliefs and [revolutionary] values,” he stressed.

The temporary Friday prayer leader of Tehran emphasized that Iran is involved in a full-scale cultural war against the culture of the global arrogance. Iranians must against fight this arrogant culture so that their Islamic culture becomes realized in all fields and the seditious activities of the enemies of do not come to fruition.

Ayatollah Khatami also congratulated Dr Mohammad Sarafraz on his appointment by Ayatollah Khamenei as the new president of IRIB and thanked Ezzatollah Zarghami, the former president of IRIB, for his tireless and sincere efforts during his tenure as president.
