Rasa - With negative images of warfare and beheadings in the name of Islam making international news recently, Muslims in Birmingham want to show that true Islam is exemplified by compassion.
RNA - A free clinic opened on Oct. 11, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Hoover Crescent Islamic Center on Hackberry Lane. "It's about building community; it's about serving the people," said Tanveer Patel, president of Red Crescent Clinic. "They are here serving the poor, the needy, the uninsured."
Doctors and dentists are offering free check-ups and testing. Muslim physicians are volunteering their time to serve. A young team of Muslim volunteers who are mostly medical students will assist.
