Rasa News Agency reports – Hujjat al-Islam Ebrahim Bagherzadeh, a researcher in the area of modesty and hijab, has spoken with Rasa News Agency on the joyous occasion of birth anniversary of Lady Fatimah al-Ma’sumah (S).

He said that discussing the high character of Lady Ma’sumah (S) is very difficult as certain aspects of her blessed personality are complicated to verify. However, we know that the blessed daughter of the seventh Imam, Musa ibn Ja’far al-Kadhim, was an infallible woman from the family of Ahlul-Bayt (A) who left her home to travel far to see her beloved brother and Imam, ‘Ali ibn Musa ar-Ridha (A).

Hujjat al-Islam Bagherzadeh explained that this noble lady is considered a role model for Muslims, especially girls and women, because of her pious character. In the Islamic Republic of Iran, Lady Ma’sumah’s birth anniversary is celebrated as “Daughter’s Day.”

His Eminence explained that women have a very high status in Islam. The Quran and prophetic narrations state that a woman is a noble, valuable and delicate being who trains the next generation with her weapons of modesty and chastity. He pointed to the story of Lady Mary, the Mother of Jesus Christ, in the Quran as another great lady worth imitating, as she dedicated her entire life to serving God.

Like the other blessed women of the Ahlul-Bayt (A), Lady Ma’sumah (S) gave great importance to preserving hijab. Imam ar-Ridha (A) escorted 40 women from his blessed family from Madinah toward Tus (modern Mashhad). “This shows the importance of the hijab among the women of the Ahlul-Bayt (A),” Hujjat al-Islam Bagherzadeh stated.

He concluded by explaining that Fatimah al-Ma’sumah (S) is largely unknown to the Muslim community: “Unfortunately, the character and life of this holy lady is unknown. We should not expect everyone to give importance to Islamic culture in society, because not everyone is aware of the blessed personalities and the lofty religious teachings. Thus, their values are not reflected in society.”
