RNA - Police assaulted Nitham Abu Ramouz, 37, from Jerusalem, outside one of the gates to Al-Aqsa Mosque and detained him for several hours before he was released and admitted to hospital to get treatment, WAFA reported.

Abu Ramouz received several cuts in the face and around his eyes as well as bruises all over his body.

He was released on Thursday night and summoned again on Friday to the Jaffa Gate police station where he was ordered to stay away from the Old City for two weeks or he will face arrest.

Police has banned Abu Ramouz, a devout Muslim, from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque, one of Islam’s holiest sites, for three years for confronting Jewish fanatics who hold provocative tours of the holy compound. As a result of this ban, he has been holding a vigil outside Al-Aqsa Mosque’s Bab al-Asbat (Lion’s Gate) demanding his right for free worship inside the walled Mosque.
