RNA - In a statement released on Thursday on the occasion of the Gaza Day, the committee urged all freedom-seeking people and Muslims around the world to support the Palestinians’ resistance against occupation.
January 19 has been designated by the Iranian parliament as the Gaza Day in the Iranian calendar.
The day was named in the aftermath of the resistance put up by the residents of the Gaza Strip in the face of the full-scale Israeli invasion which led to Gaza’s victory in the 22-day Gaza War during December 27, 2008-January 18, 2009.
The statement voiced hope for the liberation of all occupied Palestinian lands including holy Quds (Jerusalem).
The committee further condemned the US move to declare Quds the Israeli regime’s capital.
It underlined that Quds is the everlasting capital of Palestine.
Tensions have been running high across the occupied Palestinian territories since US President Donald Trump announced his decision on December 6 to recognize Quds as Israel’s capital and plans to move Washington’s embassy to the city.
Washington’s dramatic U-turn on Quds drew global condemnations, prompting the UN General Assembly to overwhelmingly approve a resolution against Trump’s declaration.
The city, which Palestinians want as the capital of their future state, has been designated as “occupied” under international law since the 1967 Arab War.
