Rasa - US President Donald Trump’s refusal to certify the Iran nuclear agreement is an act of desperation designed to get the support of the Israel lobby, says E. Michael Jones, a political analyst in Indiana.

RNA - Jones, a writer, former professor, media commentator and the current editor of the Culture Wars magazine, made the remarks in an interview on Saturday.

On Friday, former Secretary of State John Kerry on Friday condemned President Trump's decision not to recertify the 2015 multinational nuclear agreement with Iran.

Trump’s decision Friday not to certify the deal for a third time immediately provoked the dismay of Democrats, who signaled they would remain committed to protecting the deal that the US agreed to when it was reached in two years ago with Iran and other world powers.

Kerry, who played a key negotiating role in the nuclear agreement, said Trump is "creating an international crisis" with his "dangerous" decision.

"It endangers America's national security interests and those of our closest allies," Kerry said.

Kerry called on members of Congress to stand in Trump's way, saying that "the stakes are enormous for Congress."

Jones said “Kerry’s reaction to Trump’s refusal to certify the Iran nuclear agreement is completely predictable.”

“It shows that the Trump administration has abandoned any real pretext of having a coherent foreign policy,” he stated.

“The Trump decertification move, it’s not really going to affect the agreement all that much. You can’t unilaterally disengage from a multilateral agreement,” he stated. “What it shows is his complete alliance with the Likudnik party, and with Benjamin Netanyahu, and using this alliance as the last straw. This is like a drowning man who is ready to grasp at anything.”

The analyst said, “Trump’s popularity rating is the lowest in history. He is the weakest president in the recent United States’ history. He is on the verge of being impeached or driven from office. This is an act of desperation on his part, hoping that the Israel lobby will come now to his rescue.”

“By refusing to certify, Trump has put the ball back in the court of the United States Congress, which is even more under the control of the Israel lobby. So by doing this he gets the Congress off his back,” he noted.

Jones observed Trump "doesn’t really do anything in terms of changing the reality of the agreement, and he gives the illusion to the Jews who control the media that he is standing to their side."
