RNA – The Islamic Action Movement of Bahrain (Amal) has called for widespread Islamic solidarity with the people of the city of al-Awamiyyah in Saudi Arabia’s predominately Shi’ah-populated Eastern Province, which has been attacked by Saudi security forces over the past few days.
In a statement, the movement referred to the siege and attacks on the city by the Saudi terrorist regimes’ security forces over the past year on the hometown of the martyred Shi’ah scholar, Ayatollah Nimr Baqir al-Nimr, and said that the regime has stepped up a crackdown on al-Awamiyyah since the evening of July 25th.
Referring to the shooting of Shi’ahs and destruction of the houses belonging to Shi’ahs, the Islamic Action Movement of Bahrain said the blockade has reached a stage where civil servants are faced with problems and electricity to the homes of the Shi’ahs of al-Awamiyyah has been cut off.
In their statement, the Shi’ah Muslim pollical party referred to the actions carried out by over the past two weeks in al-Awamiyyah by the Saudi regime and said, “Regarding the execution of the seven believing and revolutionary youth in al-Awamiyyah, the government has refused to deliver the bodies of the martyrs to their families.”
In another part of their statement, they severely criticized to the execution of 29 Shi’ah citizens in the regions of al-Qatif, al-Ahsa and Madinah based on confessions taken under torture and said, “The execution of the Shi’ah youth of Saudi Arabia is in fact admitting a heavy defeat of the Al Saud in the battles of Mosul, Syria and Yemen.”
In conclusion, the Islamic Action Movement of Bahrain said that the United States, Israel and their terrorist apparatuses and their regional allies are the main cause of the crises and wars against the Islamic ummah in the Middle East.
Since February 2011, Saudi Arabia has stepped up security measures in the Shi’ah-dominated Eastern Province, which has been rocked by anti-regime demonstrations, with protesters demanding free speech, the release of political prisoners, and an end to economic and religious discrimination.
The protests have been met with a heavy-handed crackdown by the Saudi regime.
Many inhabitants of al-Awamiyyah believe the city is being punished by the Saudi government for sectarian reasons and that it would stand as symbol of subjugation for other Saudis.
