Rasa - Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has accused the Israeli regime of supporting terrorists by striking the positions of his country’s army. Assad made the remarks after an Israeli missile strike targeted a Syrian military base southwest of the capital Damascus on Thursday.

RNA - A political commentator believes Israel's role in the Middle East is to ignite more wars, because Tel Aviv's “strong connection” with the terrorists has been proven in many incidents.

“The latest attack is not something new and I do not think it is going to be the last. That is proved in an inevitable way that the Israelis are militarily involved directly in Syria and elsewhere, especially in Lebanon,” Redwan Rizk told Press TV in an interview on Friday.

“This strategic attack is due to the achievement that is being done by the Syrian army and its allies and the troops on the ground are gaining more and more lands and the terrorist groups are losing more and more positions,” he added.

The commentator went on to say that Israel seeks to keep the fighting ground against Lebanon's Hezbollah resistance movement in Syria for the time being, because it is afraid to get involved in a direct major war against the Lebanese movement.

He also noted the latest Israeli attack on Syrian army positions was an attempt to weaken Hezbollah, which has played a very important role in fighting the Takfiri terrorist groups in Syria.

Israel has carried out multiple attacks on Syrian government positions since the foreign-sponsored militancy erupted in March 2011. Damascus says the raids aim to help Takfiri militants fighting against government forces.
