RNA - “Britain, the disabled old colonialist, once again has come to the Persian Gulf and is seeking to gain its interests through exploiting (some) countries in the region,” Ayatollah Khamenei said Sunday in a meeting with people from the holy city of Qom.
That is why Britain, which is itself a real threat to the region, claims that Iran is a threat, the Leader added.
British circles are also plotting against regional countries, including Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei said, adding that one of their objectives is to break up Iraq, Syria, Yemen and Libya.
The Leader said they also have the same ill intention against Iran but do not mention it because they are afraid of Iran’s public opinion.
Elsewhere, Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted the need to recognize the enemy and its plots, saying that the main target of the enemy is the Iranian nation and the Islamic Establishment.
The Leader called on Iranian people from all walks of life, including officials, scholars, clerics, students and workers, to help boost the country’s national power in the face of the enemies.
Ayatollah Khamenei also underscored the necessity to increase the country’s power in scientific, economic and military areas among many others.
The comments came after British Prime Minister Theresa May made anti-Iran remarks in a recent summit of the (Persian) Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) in Bahrain.
May said at the summit that Britain would contribute to counteracting what she called “aggressive regional actions” from Iran, and unveiled plans for a four-billion-dollar military investment in the region for the next 10 years.
