RNA – In an exclusive interview with Rasa News Agency, Ms Nayyereh Akhavan-Bitaraf, a member of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran (Parliament), referred to the mutual understanding reached in the Swiss city of Lausanne over Iran’s disputed nuclear program.

She said the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, has announced his appreciation for the hard work and perseverance of the Iranian negotiating team and stated his satisfaction with the results.

She also expressed concern over the conflicting news reports over the results of the mutual understanding reached between Iran the P5+1 group of countries, saying that one side is giving information which conflicts with what others are saying. Also, some reports say some of the participants still have not reached certainty that’s Iran’s nuclear program is completely peaceful.

Ms Akhavan-Bitaraf questioned why certain countries feel that they must have control over the world, saying: “These individuals from various regions of the world seek to launch wars in order to sell weapons and confront those who seek peace in the political arena.”

She warned that we do not yet have details over the negotiations and thus we cannot make swift judgements. Iranians should trust the negotiating team and they must not pay attention to the Western media propaganda which mixes the truth with lies. “Mr [Mohammad-Javad] Zarif will inform us of the outcome of negotiations,” she emphasized.

The veteran woman politician expressed that if the European and American negotiators spoke truthfully, there would still be much to worry about and warned that we are still losing time. Since nothing is clear, the debate is in regard to how the other side will adhere to their commitments. She also emphasized that the West has never adhered to its commitments and obligations over the nuclear issue.

The member of parliament from Esfahan province said that introducing Iran and the West’s position to the world is one of the biggest advantages of the talks. She added that the West has been forced to appear to act in a correct manner and Iran has had the opportunity to show its position to the world and resist the West’s power throughout the world.

Ms Akhavan-Bitaraf said the parliament passed should begin to implement the required steps to solve any problems that may arrive over the course of three months until a permanent solution is reached.
